To start off...

They say a picture is worth 1000 words.

This blog started as my personal goal to post a picture each day of my first year living in Washington, D.C. 4 years later, the objective has changed and my posts are much less frequent. I write when I am inspired by an event or experience and do my best to capture feeling and intrigue with the photographs I take. My hope is that somewhere between the pictures and words, you have a glimpse of the inspiration behind each one and that you may experience through them some of the joy and emotion that urges me to share.

Palm Sunday

Day 74: The Jefferson Memorial was beautiful yesterday morning surrounded by the cherry blossoms and excellent quotes from our third President.

"God who gave us life gave us liberty. Can the liberties of a nation be secure when we have removed a conviction that these liberties are the gift of God? Indeed I tremble for my country when I reflect that God is just, that his justice cannot sleep forever. Commerce between master and slave is despotism. Nothing is more certainly written in the book of fate than that these people are to be free. Establish a law for educating the common people. This it is the business of the state and on a general plan."

Day 73: The cherry blossoms are here and are absolutely breath taking! Definitely more pictures to come throughout the week.

Day 72: Thank goodness these replaced the giant "Don't Eat on the Metro" signs that featured large rats. Though I had perfected where not to look, they still occasionally found a way to jump out at me. My thoughts when I see this though, is that they might as well say: "Life moves fast. So make sure work follows you wherever you go." The blackberry is great for work, but it is far too easy to let it go with you wherever and who wants to be dealing with work e-mails in the evening with your family!?

Day 71: Thought these pants were a biiit much, no matter how much I like Burberry!
